The Mother's Day Table

Scripture:
“She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness” (Proverbs 31:26 NKJV).
Thought:
Being a mom isn’t easy. I have been parenting children for almost 37 years (I am raising a 17 year old grandchild)! I tell people: “I am either doing something really right and God wants me to keep doing it, or I am doing something really wrong and He is giving more chances to get it right.” But seriously, it is not easy! When they are little, we look forward to them growing up. When they grow up, we no longer have a say in what they do. I think we worry more when they are adults.
Have you ever been blamed for ruining their lives? If you have had teenagers, then the answer is probably “yes.” Sometimes we feel like failures. We ask ourselves, “Where did it go wrong?” We are hard on ourselves for not being perfect. And then that glimmer of hope. My favorite gift one year: A coffee mug that says, “World’s Best Grandma.” Then I remember that at the end of the day, I did the best I could and I can’t go back and change anything. I raised them in church. I see God working on them all the time. It is in His hands now. Stop at this table and remind yourself that you have never been perfect. You need God’s wisdom no matter what age children you are raising. Never cease talking about the Lord and take every opportunity to allow Him to instruct them through you, His vessel.
Reflection:
Do you allow the guilt to creep into your thought life? How can you combat this?
"Being a mother is one of the most difficult - yet one of the most important roles that a woman can fulfill." – Pastor Erin
Prayer:
God, I plead Your precious blood over my children. Help me to understand that guilt is a tool that the enemy uses to gain a foothold in my life and to destroy my walk with You. I can’t go back and change the past, but I can change the future relationship with my children by praying for them daily. Even if I don’t see any change, I will continue to pray because I know that You will honor this. In Jesus’ name, amen!
Challenge:
Take this day to thank God for the awesome responsibility of raising your children. They were on loan and are now His. Pray every day this month that He moves in their lives in a powerful way. Lay aside any guilt and move forward in a relationship that is filled with wise speech and faithful instruction.
Before You Get Up From This Table:

In Closing:
I pray that you have a wonderful Mother's Day. Remember the mothers who have lost children and those who have lost mothers.
