Consider the Wild Flowers

"Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith!" Luke 12:27-28 NIV

I planted zinnias this year. They are beautiful. When I look at them, I am reminded of this Scripture. I can look out of my office window and gaze upon their splendor.

I merely planted seeds and watered. At one point, I didn't think that they would even make it. It was looking rough. But consider how they grew! They grew so much that they were way too tall for the container.

I know that when we look at this Passage, we understand that God provides. We need not worry. But have you considered how they grew? Without my help? I simply did what we are required to do. The Apostle Paul put it this way:

"You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans? For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not mere human beings? What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building." 1 Corinthians 3:3-9 NIV

I planted. I watered. But God always gives the increase. How many times do we forget that we have 2 jobs: plant the seed of God's Word and water that seed. But God makes that flower grow and bloom! In fact, He makes the wildflowers of the field to spring up without any of our help. He chooses to use us. Let us:

• always partner together for the upbuilding of God's kingdom

• serve with an attitude that only God is worthy of ALL of the glory

• continue to be amazed at the growth because of Him
