Christian Life Is Easy...Or Is It?

It all started with the decision to buy a new refrigerator. I was so excited! We knew that the old refrigerator was leaking. However, when we moved it, the wood flooring underneath was damaged. After removing some of the wood, we also saw that the subflooring was damaged. Well...we needed to replace our flooring at some point anyway. (Keep your chin up.) But the holidays were fast approaching. So we decided to wait. In the meantime, there was flooring missing, a hole, and the new refrigerator was around the corner in the dining room.

I could stop there and that would be enough. But on Christmas, right before company arrived for breakfast, our dog got sick...all the way across the carpet. Around that same timeframe, my knee had started clicking and I could no longer bend down....at the most convenient time, of course. But wait! There's more. Then we had to put a new transmission in my husband's truck (Merry Christmas). Hold on to your hats! Then my car started acting up...a new car was purchased (Happy New Year). And in the process of cleaning, I pulled muscles in my chest. I couldn't move, sleep, or take a deep breath. Good thing I was already in therapy for my knee! Ugh! Whoever said that Christian living is easy...they are sadly mistaken.
When Life Doesn't Go Your Way...
Life can be overwhelming...to say the least. Sometimes we have difficulty understanding why things don't go our way. Scripture tells us that it rains upon the just and the unjust (Matthew 5:45). Life is hard. We see plenty of examples in the Word of God to remind of this. My life has been filled with difficulties over the years, but suffering with an extremely painful disease for ten years has opened my eyes of understanding. In these moments of difficulty, we still have a faithful and trustworthy God. I couldn't make it without Him! Why?
God Goes With Me...
Life is not always easy. It is messy and unpredictable. There is One, however, who never changes. We can count on Him in every situation...even the hole in the floor, the broken down car, and the uncooperative body. He is there with us. And in my case...He came inside of me when I was filled with His Spirit. That means that not only is He before and after the circumstance...not only is He beside me, leading me in each circumstance...He is going into each and every circumstance...inside me...giving me POWER to make it! And you must be determined to do so.
This is an excerpt from my current writing: "You must have some stamina...some GET BACK UP in your spirit. If not, the waves of life will take you down." Situations and circumstances will happen.
- Shake it off.
- Trust in God.
- Move forward.
