I just got back from a glorious week of vacation. The beach was just outside my door and around the corner. No complaints! There was nothing but hot sun and blue skies!
The ocean ministers to me. Everything that God has spoken to me concerning my illness pertains to this magnificent, yet strong and terrifying water. This trip, God said, "Take your vitamins!"
Essential #1 - Vitamin "Be"
One of the most difficult things for me to do is to just "be." But when we become still in our spirits, we can take everything in and all five senses become more aware and alive. I walked with intention along the beach and noticed the red color that was painted across the sand. I also saw how the sand sparkled beneath my feet when the sun hit it just right. I saw the deep blue ocean that seemed to extend forever and I felt the warmth of the sun, mingled together with the cool breeze. I smelled seawater and suntan lotion and I heard the mighty roar of the waves moving in to crash on the beach.
As difficult as relaxation has been for me, it has become necessary. The more I learn to just "be," the better I feel. So when I came back from vacation, I opened the windows and left the television off. I could hear the birds singing a variety of songs. I could see my roses blooming and I prepared my new hummingbird feeder for future visitors. Sometimes we need some vitamin "be" in our lives. The 23rd Psalm is a beautiful analogy of our Good Shepherd leads us this direction. Verse 2 says, "He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters." Take your vitamin "be" this summer!

Essential #2 - Vitamin "Sea"
Maybe you have heard this one: Sometimes we all need a little vitamin "sea" in our lives! It is so true. We need ocean time and respite for our souls. When we got to our vacation spot, however, we noticed that up and down the beach there was equipment and noise as the workers started to rebuild the seawalls. These seawalls were created to prevent the erosion of land in the event of a storm. They act as a line of defense during hurricanes and after hurricane Ian they were damaged.
We all want an ocean life that is peaceful, but let's face it, our life is not always so! Sometimes it rips through us, leaving a path of damage and destruction. Time to rebuild the right way! Psalm 61:2-3 says, "From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou has been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy." God is our one true shelter and defense. Take your vitamin "sea," but make sure that you are prepared and built up in Christ.
