Psalm 119:15 says, "This is my comfort in my affliction - For your word has given me life."
"In this world you will have trouble" –Jesus
There is not one person who will live in this world without problems. In fact, Jesus said in John 16:33, "In this world you will have trouble." You are going to have problems. The issue begins when we start to view the problems as something that is greater than God. He is the Problem Solver! When we view the problems as greater, the promises of God begin to diminish in our lives.
What we once viewed as an all-powerful, all-mighty God turns into just someone we occasionally cry out to in desperation...or in difficult moments...with a tiny bit of belief in what He is actually capable of doing, He is truly limitless. I'm here to tell you...
The Promise Is Greater Than The Problem!
Scripture says...
Scripture shows us many examples of how mankind has failed to focus on the promise and has instead focused on the problems. For example:
At the very beginning of time, Eve focused on the problem. not the promise. Instead of keeping her eyes on everything that God wanted for her, she turned to what she could not have. This resulted in sin and sickness for the whole world.
In the Old Testament, the Israelites witnessed powerful demonstrations and had a promised land that they were headed towards. But even after saving them, fighting battles for them, creating a valley through the sea, feeding them with manna, and providing water from a rock, they continued to complain, show disbelief, and turn towards sin and idolatry.
In the New Testament, His own people failed to recognize the Promise arrived...God in flesh. They witnessed many miracles...the lame walked, the blind could see, the dead were raised to life! Instead they cried, "Crucify Him!"
So let's do this...
Let's focus on God's Word because it is full of precious promises. They are the very Words from the Promise Himself!
When you focus on the problem it causes doubt, stress, anxiety, and depression. But focusing on the promises brings life, peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:6) and joy unspeakable (1 Peter 7:8)!
Jesus is the Promise and He is so much greater than any of my problems. If you want to see this in your life, magnify Him! Magnifying Him doesn't make Him greater. He is greater than we could ever imagine. Magnifying Him shows just how great He is next to our problems! You do this through proclaiming the Word and praising Him in spite of circumstance.
The promises in the Word are tried and true (Proverbs 30:5), yes and amen.(2 Corinthians 1:20). You don't have to worry if He will keep them. It's already settled in heaven (Psalm 119:89)!
Not only focus on the promises, pray them and declare them with your mouth!
You will give power to me when I am weak. (Isaiah 40:29)
You will never leave me! I am not alone! (Joshua 1:9)
You will fight for me! (Exodus 14:14)
You will direct my paths! (Proverbs 3:5-6)
When I call to you, you will listen! (Jeremiah 29:12)
You will supply all my need! (Philippians 4:19)
And so much more!!! Jesus said that we will have trouble...but He concludes with this: "take heart I have overcome the world." This is His Word. This is life to my soul.
