What is social media ministry?
I never dreamed that I would be serving in this way. But God knows the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10). He knew that technology would change. He knew that I would have this physical ailment and that social media would become my platform. What He counted on was my "determination" to continue to serve Him, in whatever capacity that might be. Determination. This is my word for 2023. God wants us to be more willing to trust Him, more willing to do whatever the task, and more willing to do it with that Holy Ghost determination!
Social media ministry is different in several ways.
It stops counting numbers. I had someone ask me how many people I pastor. I said, "I stopped counting a long time ago." It is definitely not about the numbers! Oh, there are stats to look at, but you truly do not know how many it reaches, which is the greatest thing ever!
It reminds that the physical self is the temple of the Holy Spirit. You can still love, serve, and worship anyplace. Don't get me wrong. The old school girl in me loves the church building. I even have a hard, wooden church pew in my house. And there is something magnificent when you are worshipping together in a church building. Gathering is a must. However, having had limitations for 10 years now, I can tell you that God moves where I am. God hears me where I am. God blesses where I am,
It thrives on the ability to transform the way that you see ministry. God prepared me for this ability to transform throughout my years in ministry, He moved me, changed me, and allowed me to see that there is so much more if I'm obedient. God never changes but His way of reaching people, the mode, has changed. Think about the recent pandemic. People who were once stuck in "this is the way we have always done things", were forced to step outside of that comfort zone and make a change. Are they still engaging in change or did it all go back to what is was? Are they in person only again or are they phygital (both physical and digital)? Hmm...
